OSHA Requirements OSHA requires that proper consideration be given to fall protection in the workplace for anyone working at a height of four feet or more. For lesser heights this may just require adequate railings and notices. But for larger heights this may require ropes, lines, and lanyards for fall protection. Examples include activities such as large tree trimming, roofing work, and many construction site jobs. This isn't simply a matter of ordering the equipment and considering that box checked off. It is also critical that everyone be properly trained in its use because lives, quite literally, are at stake. Employers must make sure employees who will use a fall protection system are trained in its use beforehand, including how to plan anchor points, tie-off technique, and testing and inspection.
